Picture Your Future
Dreaming of our ideal future delights and inspires us. Children, with their fertile imaginations, are particularly good at dreaming. But to make dreams come true, you need to have clear goals and, very likely, save some money to make them happen. Credit unions can help their members on both counts.
Putting your dreams and goals down on paper where you can see them every day actually helps you achieve them! Studies were conducted at Dominican University on the science of goal setting. The results revealed that writing down your goals on a regular basis makes you 42% more likely to achieve them than if you don’t record them. They determined that using your imagination and writing those plans down engages your whole brain, including your subconscious. This makes it easier for you to find and seize opportunities that will help you achieve your goals, as well as keep you motivated.
Young members have limitless potential, and financial education can be instrumental in helping them achieve it. This April, celebrate National Credit Union Youth Month with our 2019 theme: “The future is yours… Picture it! Save for it! Share it!”
Together, we’re encouraging young members to express themselves through pictures, sharing their visions for their own financial futures so we can help them get there. By staying true to credit union philosophy in an engaging new way, we can set our young members on the path to financial education, understanding and security.
Get involved by using the Twitter hashtag #CUYouthMonth to let everyone know how Flag Credit Union is making a difference in young members’ lives.
National Youth Savings Challenge
In May, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) will randomly select and give a $1,000 grand prize to a participating credit union. That credit union will then randomly select 10 winners from its entrants to receive $100 each. You will be notified if you are a winner.
The National Youth Saving Challenge is FREE and open to all youth under 18 who visit a participating credit union during April. While youth are encouraged to make a deposit at Flag Credit Union, no deposit is required to enter. Limit one entry per person. Odds of winning depend on number of entrants.
Parents/guardians giving permission for their youth to enter can submit a 3″ x 5″ piece of paper with the following information to Flag Credit Union:
- Current age
How To Participate:
Flag Credit Union must reach a goal of 10 members under the age of 18 making a deposit, 10 new youth accounts opened, and a total of $500 deposited by youths during April. Help us reach our goal, so that we can win the $1,000 that will then be distributed to our 10 winners.
Open an account with Flag Credit Union for yourself if you are under 18, or for a child under the age of 18 if you do not already have one. Make as many or as few deposits into your account as you wish. We will keep track of new accounts and deposits, and if we win, then you could win $100.
